About

An example of ethical design: Piltanys Soap

Branding and packaging design for an organic soap range.

While the designs were forming...

We were coming up with ideas that would convey the wholesome, organic nature of the soap. Packaging needed to be kept to a minimum, so we blended a careful selection of hand-drawn sketch-style type, earthy colours and a well-proportioned layout to communicate the soaps' premium quality.

Throughout the design process...

We were using macs and appliances chosen for their energy efficiency. Working straight to screen means we don't waste reams of paper. Any print-outs created get a second life as project note paper – see if you can spot some Piltanys next time we meet...

Before it went into production...

We advised on the best recycled materials, most appropriate supplier, and the kind of print run that would create the least waste. We chose to print with Seacourt – one of the best environmental printers in the country – they use 100% renewable energy and generate 0% landfill waste.

And as another project headed out into the world...

We were proud to be putting a new ethical product on the shelf – and another ethical business on the map.
